TORONTO (APRIL 1, 2020) – The Beer Store will begin to accept empties at select retail locations as of April 6th.
To facilitate an orderly restoration of the recycling program, we have temporarily reduced the number of stores accepting empties. This will allow our retail operations to ensure we have substantial quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE) along with safeguarding the operational maintenance of social distancing with increased store traffic.
That’s why returns will begin at 73 stores initially. These locations will modify hours to 10am-4pm Monday through Saturday, and regular operating hours on Sunday. Those stores include:
We will continue to work with our customers to help them understand directional information found when they arrive onsite, practice social distancing, and have minimized empty returns to one cart per person. Customers are asked to rinse their returns prior to visiting the store. It is also recommended to visit at off peak times as transactions may take longer than normal once we resume the program.
In addition, every Sunday, beginning April 5th, select Beer Store Distribution Centres will accept empty container returns from 9am – 3pm. These sites will be set up as a drive-thru system enabling continuous flow of traffic. Note, no bottle drive returns will be accepted on this date. Distribution Centres include:
As we continue to restore recycling operations, please visit the www.thebeerstore.ca to see updates as they become available. We’d like to thank all our customers for their patience at this extraordinary time.
TORONTO (MARCH 18, 2020) – The Beer Store is reducing store hours and pausing recycling until March 31 to enhance efforts to protect employees and customers.
As we continue to closely monitor COVID-19, the Beer Store will reduce store hours to 10am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday, as of March 19th. Stores that operate from 10am to 6pm are unaffected. Sunday hours remain unchanged. All updated store hours are available at www.thebeerstore.ca.
The Beer Store will also suspend the return of empty containers at all retail stores across the province, effective March 19, through to March 31. Deposits will be fully honoured upon return when we resume operations and city officials ask for public cooperation in keeping these deposit containers out of the blue box. In addition, at times we may need to limit the number of customers in our stores. This is to enhance protection for both customers and our dedicated employees who are working hard to serve customers.
We want to remind customers that Beer Xpress home delivery and in-store pick up are available in select communities, including most of the GTA, Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo; visit www.beerxpress.ca to learn more. Please note that delivery drivers of BeerXpress orders will not be accepting empty returns until further notice.
As we collectively navigate the unfolding situation, we will continue to provide updates. We thank you for your patience with us.
