How to save money on beer
- Buy more to save more
We’re the home of the 2-4, but do you know what else is good about that clinking box of 24? You receive an average savings of $9 when you buy it! How? Well, think of how when you buy anything in bulk, the more you buy, the less each item costs. Whether you buy a 2-4, curate your own eight-pack or grab a six-er, the more you buy, the more money you’ll save per unit.
But that average $9 savings on a 24 pack is calculated based on the price differential of purchasing four six-packs, compared with the cost of a 24 pack of the same brand or variety. This pricing is applied to the 30 most popular 24 packs —by hectolitre (hL) volume — sold at our stores. Have any questions? Our expert staff can help you.
- Return your empties
In Ontario, all alcohol containers — including any spirit, cooler, wine or beer container larger than 100 mL — are charged a deposit through the Ontario Deposit Return Program. And since you paid a deposit, you might as well get it back. By bringing us your empties, you’re helping the planet and getting money back to put toward whatever you want.
But your cashback can definitely be applied to your next purchase. Whether you’re a big-hauler who saves up all your rinsed and sorted containers for one trip (please call ahead if your haul is more than $100) or a bit-by-bit returner, you get 10 cents on containers smaller than or equal to 630 mL and on cans smaller than or equal to 1 L and you get 20 cents on containers larger than 630 mL and on cans larger than 1 L.
- Shop sales
This one might seem obvious, but it still rings true. As we mentioned before, our brewers — all 1,000+ brands — set the prices, including their sale pricing. Sale prices and limited-time offers start on Mondays and end on Sundays. Make sure to check out the price of your favourite brands every Monday, so you’ll never miss an opportunity to stock up on your faves. The sales section of our website is a great place to start.
