Environmental Awards

Awards and Recognition

Canada’s Greenest Employers (2020) Winner

The Beer Store Recognized as One of Canada’s Greenest Employers

This special designation recognizes the employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. The Beer Store was selected due to operating our longstanding beer bottle deposit program since 1927, recycling products we manage beyond containers, and directing our returns program to raise funds for charities.

Canadian Stewardship Award

The Beer Store Wins Canadian Stewardship Award!

The Canadian Stewardship Award recognizes the achievements of a business that has made a significant contribution, through leadership or advocacy, towards Canadian environmental stewardship and producer responsibility.

Globe Award

The Beer Store Wins Globe Award

Each year, the GLOBE Foundation recognizes the commitment of extraordinary Canadian companies and industry groups who have managed to balance competitive business strategies and sustainable development with the GLOBE Awards for Environmental Excellence. Considered to be the most high-profile national awards series of its type, the GLOBE Awards are judged by a panel of experts recognized in the Canadian business community.

Recycling Council of Ontario

“The convenient return-to-retail packaging recovery system perfected by the Ontario brewing industry continues to provide an excellent example of how smart business embraces environmental responsibility. The Beer Store system involves co-operation by the entire supply chain to ensure that distribution of full goods is complemented with back-haul recovery of reusable and recyclable packaging – an approach that offers tremendous environmental and bottom line gains.”
