Beer Details

Hello my name is:

Rickards Original White

Some things about me: Category: Premium
Type: Ale
Style: Wheat
Country: Canada
Brewer: MOLSON
Alcohol Content (ABV): 5.4%

Brewed in Belgian tradition, Rickard's Original White is an unfiltered wheat beer with a natural cloudy appearance. Try it in a pint glass garnished with an orange to bring out the subtle notes of coriander and citrus.

This is Molson-Coor's attempt at a belgian witbier. In terms of appearance they've got the style right on the nose - it's a pale cloudy colour with a decent foamy white cap of head on top. Of course, the Flavour is a little lacking, given that the only flavour I could notice being the orange flavour that they add to the beer - which is a common flavouring in a witbier. I would recommend the Mill St. belgian Wit instead, it's a little more flavourful, basically the same price, readily available, and very tasty.

I'm told this is exactly the same as "Blue Moon" in the US, however the reviews are generally less favourable for the Rickard's - I guess the Molson tag puts people off.

This defenitely does not taste like Blue Moon. I got a chance drinking Blue Moon in the US and since started to look and see if I can find it here. I heard this one is Canadian version of Blue Moon, but this disappoints me. If you have ever had Chinese medicine, this is the taste.

This is my least favorite of all the Rickards brand beers, its not horrible, but its definitely not great! I've had many citrus/orange favoured beers and I find the orange flavour in Rickards white to be overpowering. The only time I drink this is when I buy the taster's pack and most of the time I usually give them away (which is suprisingly harder than one would think).
