This beer cocktail may look a little green, but we swear it tastes like heaven. Lime and salt bring out the flavour of a classic Mexican lager, while a few drops of green food colouring make this refreshing chelada a standout option for parties.

Ingredients

  • Lime wedges and kosher salt (or other light, coarse salt) for garnish and rimming
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) fresh lime juice
  • 3-4 drops green food colouring, optional
  • Small pinch of salt
  • 1 330 mL bottle Mexican lager

Directions

  1. 1. Cut a slit crosswise in centre of lime wedge and rub around rim of a large beer glass. Sprinkle coarse salt onto a small plate; invert glass and rotate lime-dipped edges in salt to coat. Turn glass right-side up and fill halfway with ice.
  2. 2. Pour in lime juice, then add food colouring and a small pinch of salt. Fill the glass halfway with beer and gently stir to combine. Fill glass to top and garnish with a fresh lime wedge. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • Go easy on the food colouring! Too much will add a bitter note to your drink.
