Social responsibility is one of the cornerstones of our
business, and we actively promote responsible use and
ensure responsible sales through innovative and
effective programs and partnerships.
Intensive staff training and stringent control
policies work to keep alcohol from being sold to people
who are underage or intoxicated. The Beer Store's
"We
ID 25" program requires staff to ask for ID from
anyone who appears to be 25 years old or younger.
Minors, and those who appear to be intoxicated, are
refused service.
The Beer Store's responsible sales policies have been an effective deterrent in discouraging minors from obtaining alcohol and refusing service to patrons who appear to be intoxicated. In 2007, over 4.4 million customers were challenged with over 111,000 individuals refused service.
Furthering our commitment to social responsibility,
The Beer Store is proud of our long history as partners
of the Ontario Community Council on Impaired Driving (OCCID).
OCCID’s arrive alive DRIVE SOBER® program celebrates and
promotes sober driving in Ontario. It encourages drivers
to plan ahead, drink responsibly, use designated
drivers, take cabs or stay overnight.
